How to become a Co-ordinator for the St Leonards & St Ives Parish Home Watch Scheme.

We currently have approximately 101 Co-ordinators providing the important link between the Home Watch Committee and the Home Watch Member which is very necessary to the smooth running of the Home Watch group.

Usually a Co-ordinator maintains close contact with the Home Watch members in their road, but if the road is particularly long, then it can be split into sections with more than one Co-ordinator in such cases.

Basically the job involves circulating police messages, known as Ringmaster, delivering the quarterly Newsletter, collecting the annual membership subscriptions and enrolling new members.

If members have an e-mail address this is also noted as Ringmaster messages can be forwarded direct by the Police or possibly by your Co-ordinator (this assumes the co-ordinators are on line), making it an easier task to forward information.

Finally, being a Co-ordinator can be a good way of keeping in touch with neighbours and the community in general. It cannot be over emphasised that the strength of the Home Watch scheme lies in the full co-operation between the Police the Home Watch Committee and its members. The role of a Co-ordinator is, therefore, pivotal and vital.

If you could spare a few hours a month to support the Home Watch scheme in your area, or you would like to know more about becoming a Co-ordinator, please contact Barbara Fisher at granville.fisher@btopenworld.com
