Home Watch Website

All Home and Neighbourhood watches work closely with their local police team. Dorset Police is divided up into multiple areas – our is East Dorset Urban. Within their website is a plenty of information and advice, so it’s well worth looking there as a first point of information.

One of the key tools used by Dorset Police is the Alert system which was set up to keep local residents informed about the latest phone and online scams across Dorset.

The Home Watch Chairman can also send messages direct to all the coordinators or just a few selected subscribers, depending on the relevance. This system is not used excessively, probably not more than one message a month.

You do not have to be a member to receive these messages which are delivered by email or recorded telephone message.

Likewise if you see something odd or unusual report it to our Neighbourhood Policing Team using 101 and they will issue an alert. You will be helping yourself and other members of our community.

Another very valuable source of information from the police can be found on AskNed their Non-Emergency Directory. It is a service that combines the questions that members of the public have asked with contact details of those that can help. AskNED also includes common questions asked of our partner organisations.
